History of Northcote
Northcote has a rich history spanning back to the 1800s where it was most famous for commercial fruit farms and supplying the nation’s sugar. After the completion of the Harbour Bridge in 1959, cheaper housing subdivisions transformed the area to the multicultural retail hub it is today.
These images, collated from Northcote locals, represent a small snapshot of the neighbourhoods heritage.
